Two killed in bid to ‘kidnap’ girl

CHINIOT: Two persons were killed when a group of men attempted to allegedly kidnap a girl for the second time after she was recovered from their custody a few months ago.

Saima Batool, 22, a resident of Taj Nagar, Bhowana tehsil, had been allegedly kidnapped by Amjad Ali some months ago. Her parents had lodged a first information report at the Bhowana police station and managed to get her back. Saima told a court that she was kidnapped by Ali and his accomplices.

On Tuesday night, Saima was sleeping in her house with her mother Safia, father Zahid and other family members when Ali and his accomplices Ashraf, Gul Zaman, Naseer and two unidentified gunmen forced their way into her house and tried to kidnap her.

The family offered resistance upon which Ali and his accomplices started firing. Saima’s uncle Mumtaz and Ali’s accomplice Ashraf were killed, while Safia and two other family members received bullet injuries. The remaining suspects managed to escape, leaving Ashraf’s body behind.

Bhowana police registered a case under sections 302, 365 and 511 of the PPC.
