Seven arrested for illegal cutting of trees

TIMERGARA: Seven persons involved in deforestation in Maidan area were arrested on the orders of deputy commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai here on Sunday.

Mr Yousafzai while taking notice of public complaints had directed the assistant commissioner, Lal Qilla Maidan, to arrest all the seven accused involved in cutting trees. The arrested persons were sent to jail. Talking to mediapersons, the deputy commissioner said these persons were involved in forest cutting in Maidan area. He said the district administration had issued strict warning to people not to denude forests. He said people involved in deforestation would not be spared.

STUDENT FOUND DEAD: A student of grade XI identified as Bakht Shad, a resident of Shapano Kasai, was found dead in Garla area in the jurisdiction of Munda police station on Sunday morning.

Residents and police said the student had gone to participate in examinations at government higher secondary school, Samarbagh, on Saturday morning but did not return home till evening.

Police said the student had been strangulated and his body had been thrown in fields. According to relatives, the victim’s family had no enmity with anyone. The police registered a case against unknown killers and started investigations.

PM ASKED TO STEP DOWN: The Jamaat-i-Islami’s youth wing on Sunday demanded of Prime Minister Imran Khan to step down instead of removing ministers one after other.

Talking to journalists at Timergara, the JI youth wing district president Farooq Hameedullah, general secretary Mushtaq Ahmad and Balambat tehsil president Miraj ul Haq said the PTI government was unable to smoothly run affairs of the government. “The incompetent prime minister should resign instead of removing his ministers,” Mr Hameedullah said, adding changing ministers would not work.

Meanwhile, representatives of Tanzeem-i-Asateza demanded of the government to stop political interference in educational institutions. The demand was made during the golden jubilee ceremony of the organisation held at government centennial model high school, Timergara. They said the PTI lawmakers had been interfering in education department that negated the government’s claim of making institutions free of politics.
