Four get death for killing three brothers

PESHAWAR: An additional district and sessions judge of Swabi has sentenced four people, including three brothers, to death and fined them Rs1.4 million each for killing three brothers and injuring their father around four years ago.

Judge Mohammad Arif Khan posted to Chota Lahore, Swabi, pronounced that the prosecution had proved its case against the four accused, while the evidence on record also connected them with the commission of the offence.

An FIR was registered against the accused, including Khairuz Zaman, Gohar Zaman and Behruz Zaman, who were real brothers, and Nasrullah, in Sept 2015 at a Swabi police station under sections 302 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 15 of the Arms Act.

The complainant in the case was Mumfat Khan of Jalbai village, who had received injuries in the attack, which killed his three sons, including Abdur Rehman, Irfan and Usman.

Few days before the killings, an altercation had taken place between the two groups.

The court convicted the accused on multiple counts as they were awarded death sentence with Rs1 million fine each for murder, 10 years imprisonment with Rs200,000 fine each for injuring the complainant, and five years imprisonment with Rs200,000 fine each for possessing unlicensed weapons.

The state prosecutor and complainant’s counsel contended that the defence couldn’t put forward any concrete ground to counter their case.
