Man killed in accident

ISLAMABAD: A man was killed in a road accident while a shopkeeper was shot and injured during a robbery, police said.

A man, identified as Abdul Aziz, was walking along a road when a vehicle hit in Shahzad Town. The driver managed to escape. Some passersby spotted him lying on the road and shifted him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The police have registered a case against the driver on the complaint of the victim’s son.

In another incident, robbers shot and injured a shopkeeper in Tarnol, police said. Three armed men entered a shop in Shaeenabad and held the shopkeeper at gunpoint.

The robbers looted Rs120,000 cash and 12 mobile phones and were trying to leave the shop when the shopkeeper put up resistance. During the scuffle, one of the robbers shot the shopkeeper. The robbers escaped from the scene.

The injured man was shifted to a hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.

Meanwhile, robbers and burglars stole cash and valuables from different areas in the capital, police said.

In the first incident, some burglars broke into the house of Bilal Hussain in G-9/1 and made off with cash and gold ornaments.In another incident, a housemaid stole valuables from a house of Hasnain Kaleem in Chak Shahzad. The woman stole Rs200,000 cash, a mobile phone, camera and clothes before escaping.

Thieves stole cash, ornaments and ATM card from the house of Dewan Shahid in F-8/3.
