Wins for Wapda, Navy, Army and PAF

LAHORE: Defending champions Wapda, Navy, Army and Pakistan Air Force won their matches in the quarter league of the Ndure National Volleyball Championship here at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex on Friday.

Wapda outclassed Police 25-21, 25-14, 25-11. Though Police, who have recently raised a new team, started the first set aggressively as they maintained a 10-8 lead. However from thereon, Wapda made a strong comeback and won the next two sets easily to bag the match. Mohib Rasool and Murad Jehan were instrumental in Wapda’s victory.

Navy also registered a facile 25-14, 25-12, 25-14 win against Pakistan Ordnance Factories Wah. Khalid, Sharif and Ali were the main scorers for Navy. They served well and boosted accurately to create space for their smashers. Particularly Ali was highly impressive earning four back-to-back points for his team.

Army meanwhile had an easy sailing against Railways who were beaten 25-9, 25-14, 25-15. Zameer and Fakhhar smashed in gaps and served well for Army.

In the day’s fourth match, PAF overwhelmed the HEC 25-5, 25-17, 25-21.

Saturday’s matches (second quarter league): Wapda vs Army; Navy vs PAF; Police vs Railways; POF Vs HEC.
