Fleecing parents

SOME schools virtually force parents to buy books and copies from the stores of their choice. Often these chosen stores sell books and copies at higher rates. The notebook rate in our area is Rs40 to Rs50. But at shops selected by private school managements these notebooks sell at something between Rs150 and Rs200. These ‘approved’ notebooks have schools’ logos.

This is sheer injustice and unethical. This means the managements are grabbing money not only through higher school fees but also by forcing the parents to pay more for notebooks available relatively cheap at other stores. Punjab education authorities should intervene to stop this unethical practice.
