LAHORE: A CCTV footage of torture of an elderly woman by the son of a political party leader and his accomplices has blatantly exposed the police’s faulty system and the ‘false claims’ of the high-ups to provide timely justice to citizens.

The incident of violence on the woman occurred some five days back while the police acted when the footage appeared in a section of the electronic media on Thursday.

The footage showed Amir Gujjar, who introduced himself as son of MPA Illyas Gujjar thrashing Fauzia Haroon at her Shadab Colony residence in Nishtar Colony police jurisdiction.

He made his entry into her residence along with Fauzia’s daughter, her son-in-law Suleman and three other people.

Amir was seen abusing and thrashing woman who suffered bone fracture. After spending some time there, the intruders took away her cell phone and other valuables while hurling life threats.

The victim woman later went to the police station and the SSP office but no case was lodged against the suspects despite getting video record as evidence.

However, as the incident surfaced on media, the police acted and a case was lodged against the suspects who were nominated by the police in the FIR.

Fauzia in the FIR alleged her daughter after marriage wanted to grab her property which was owned by her husband. The matter of property was also pending in a local court, she said.
