World Oral Health Day marked

PESHAWAR: The Khyber College of Dentistry (KCD) on Wednesday marked the World Oral Health Day to raise awareness of the importance of oral hygiene.

Every year, KCD arranges a walk to create awareness of oral hygiene among general public, according to a statement issued here. The walk was attended by BDS students, TMOs and faculty and management staff.

The objective of the walk and seminar was to highlight oral diseases, such as tooth decay and gum problems, which are preventable through proper care, regular dental checkups and managing risk factors.

The seminar was addressed by KCD Dean Prof Dr Ghulam Rasool, HoDs prosthodontics Dr Akbar Khalil, operative dentistry Dr Khalid Rehman, community medicine Dr Manzar and others who talked about different aspects of oral and dental care.

Dr Ghulam Rasool said that KCD was conducting campaigns for the awareness of oral health for the last five years. Dr Khalil said that for a Muslim everyday was an oral health day as they prayed five times and washed their teeth at least as many times a day.
