Three with over 120kg hashish held in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT: The police arrested three persons with 123kg hashish near Gandi Chowk on Wednesday.

District police officer Asif Gohar told a press conference at Gandi police post that he had formed a police party headed by DSP Naurang Shafiq Khattak after receiving information about possible attempt of narcotics smuggling. He said the party consisting of cops from Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station and Gandi police post set up a temporary checking point near Gandi Chowk on the Indus Highway and started checking suspected vehicles.

He said the cops intercepted a rickshaw and a car and recovered 20kg and 103kg hashish from them, respectively. Rickshaw driver Mirabat and two people onboard the car, Sher Mohammad and Gul Nazir, were arrested and a case was registered against them, he maintained. Mr Gohar said the hashish was being smuggled to Punjab from Lakki Marwat, adding police impounded both the vehicles.

INJURED: Two motorcyclists were injured in an attack in Behramkhel area on Tuesday night.

Police quoted an injured, Manzoor, as saying he and his companion Islamuddin were attacked when they were going to their village Langerkhel from Behramkhel. Police said both the wounded men were shifted to a local hospital and a case was registered against unknown attackers.
