PPP lodges complaint against Sheikh Rashid

RAWALPINDI: Leaders of PPP Rawalpindi chapter on Wednesday submitted an application with the Waris Khan police, seeking registration of case against Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed for threatening the party chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The one page application written in Urdu was received by the duty officer ASI Tahir Iqbal at the police station.

Nadeem Kiani, vice president PPP Rawalpindi division confirmed to Dawn that a complaint had been handed over to the Waris Khan police for the registration of a criminal case against federal minister for railways.

He said that the PPP leaders would meet City Police Officer Abbas Ahsan on Thursday, if the complaint was not entertained by the police.

They said in their complaint: “A few days ago Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, member National Assembly and resident of Lal Haveli had said that Bilawal will be eliminated.”

They further said that it was not a hidden thing that the said person had relations with banned outfits.

“The minister while in Pervez Musharraf’s cabinet had made similar comments about Benazir Bhutto that she would be dead if she came back to Pakistan, and she died in the terrorist attack,” PPP city president Babar Jadoon told Dawn.

When the City Police Officer Abbas Ahsan was contacted, he denied that any such case was registered with the police.

According to police sources, after receiving the application from PPP leaders, the police decided not to register even a formal complaint in the daily diary (roznamcha).

Lal Haveli is located in the limits of Waris Khan Police Station.
