PM wants all highways linked to each other

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has called for linking highways being built in different parts of the country to each other so that people of all provinces could benefit from them.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting on development activities in Karachi, including the federal government-funded Green Line Urban Mass Transit Project, here on Monday.

Mr Khan said the federal government would continue to support provinces in their efforts for providing better civic amenities and infrastructures to their people.

Talking about environmental issues and the fast growing population of Karachi, he issued directives for the officials concerned to take effective measures to overcome such problems.

“The prime minister desired that all under construction highways and other road and train projects in provinces should be integrated to increase their benefits,” Special Assistant to the PM Iftikhar Durrani told Dawn after the meeting.

He said PM Khan had assured the Sindh government that centre would continue to support the provincial government through federal government-funded development projects. “PM Khan has directed that the Green Line project should be completed as soon as possible and there should be no delay in release of funds for it,” he said.
