Indian media

THE recent escalation of tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries of the subcontinent was largely caused by the jingoistic Indian media which often eggs on New Delhi to adopt aggressive military doctrines against Pakistan, and even contemplate military adventurism. Many global security analysts hold the Indian media responsible for the recent tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi.

India’s aggressive posture towards Pakistan in general and after the Pulwama attack in particular poses serious threats to regional peace and security. Despite the release of the captured Indian pilot by Pakistan as a peace gesture and offering negotiations, New Delhi continues to insist on pursuing aggressive adventurism.

On the other hand Pakistan’s media has acted responsibly and exercised restraint rather than indulging in blame game.

It is time the Indian media acted sensibly to de-escalate the prevailing tensions for the sake of regional peace and security.
