‘Nawaz being politically victimised’

GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafeezur Rehman on Wednesday said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was being politically victimised and demanded of the federal government to take urgent measures for providing health facilities to the incarcerated Pakistan Muslim League-N supreme leader.

According a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s House on Wednesday, Mr Rehman expressed concerns about the former premier’s deteriorating health.

“It was Nawaz Sharif who allowed nuclear explosions despite world pressure, is the founder of CPEC, formulated the National Action Plan to curb terrorism in Pakistan and remained three-time prime minister, but he has been denied medical facilities, which is a crime and violation of his fundamental rights,” he lamented.

“Mr Sharif is a heart patient, but medical facilities are not being provided to him, and his self respect is being violated,” Mr Rehman said, insisting that denying medical facilities to Nawaz Sharif on political grounds was not acceptable.

The GB chief minister warned that Prime Minister Imran Khan, the federal and Punjab governments would be responsible if anything happened to Nawaz Sharif.

He demanded of the federal and Punjab governments to allow treatment of the jailed leader according to his wish.
