Alyani assures flood-affected people of rehabilitation

KHUZDAR: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani on Sunday visited flood-affected areas in Lasbela district and met the people affected by rains and flash flood. He assured the people affected by the calamity that the government would utilise all its resources for their rehabilitation.

He was accompanied by provincial Minister for Information Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi and government officials.

Lasbela Deputy Commissioner Shabbir Ahmed Mengal briefed the chief minister on the ongoing relief operation and rehabilitation process in the area. The affected people informed Mr Alyani about their grievances and losses they had suffered due heavy rains and flash flood over the past few days.

Speaking to the flood-affected people, Mr Alyani said that survey teams were working in all affected areas to assess the losses.

He said members of the survey teams were working day and night and would submit their reports soon, adding that the government would immediately take action on the basis of those reports.

The chief minister assured the affected people that their losses would be compensated.

Mr Alyani said he knew that recent rains had caused large-scale destruction in the agriculture sector. Damage by snowfall, rains and flash flood in recent days had brought heavy challenges for the Balochistan government, but the government was ready to face these challenges. The government would work on a war footing to provide maximum relief to affected people, he added.

He, however, said recent rains would solve the problem of water shortage in some areas of the province that had been facing a drought-like situation for long. He said work for the construction of Porali dam would start soon.

He expressed sorrow the loss of lives in rain-related incidents.
