Three ‘MQM-L men’ held in CTD raid

KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department of the Sindh police on Friday claimed to have arrested three suspects, including a policeman, for their alleged involvement in the killings of 10 people.

The CTD carried out a raid in Shah Faisal Colony and apprehended Haroon Raza, Shaikh Javed and Zafar alias Supari.

“The held suspects belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London,” CTD SSP Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto said. They were members of Unit-105 of the MQM’s organisational structure, he added.

He said that suspect Raza was a policemen and he also acted as an activist of the political party and committed heinous crimes.

They were involved in “running a torture cell” and had committed various arson acts and extortion, the police said.

The SSP said that during initial grilling they disclosed their involvement in killings of workers of different political and religious parties.

“They admitted that they had gunned down 10 people so far,” he said. Most of these killings took place in Shah Faisal Colony and Korangi Industrial Area, respectively, he added.
