PTM man removed from NA panel

ISLAMABAD: A member of the National Assembly from the tribal region on Monday expressed surprise over removal of his name from a standing committee of the lower house of parliament.

Mohsin Dawar, who is associated with the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM), was nominated on Feb 5 as a member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, which is considered to be one of the most important committees of the National Assembly. On Monday, the PTM lawmaker took to social media to announce that the National Assembly speaker had removed his name from the NA standing committee on foreign affairs.

The speaker had issued a circular on Feb 22 and replaced Mr Dawar with Fazal Mohammad Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf. Subsequently, Mr Dawar was nominated as a member of the House and Library committee.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Dawar said that when he arrived in the Parliament House on Monday he learnt that the speaker had removed him from the Foreign Affairs committee.
