Four injured in cylinder fire

VEHARI: Four people, including three children, were injured when a gas cylinder caught fire while decanting at a shop situated in Danywal Town here on Friday.

According to Rescue 1122, shop owner Mazhar was refilling the cylinder when it caught fire as a result of which the shop caught fire. However, the Rescue 1122 personnel controled the blaze in time.

Four people, including three children, sustained burn injuries and they were shifted to the DHQ Hospital. They were identified as Shan, 12, his brother Ashiq, 10, Ehtsham, 10, and shop owner Mazhar.

According to on duty doctor, the injured persons were referred to the Nishtar Hospital, Multan, due to non-availability of a burn unit at DHQ Hospital.

A resident, Shakil Raza, told Dawn that no action had been taken against the decanting shops despite several complaints were lodged with the Civil Defenc office.
