Illegal gas connections removed

PESHAWAR: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited on Wednesday started a crackdown on illegal connections in parts of the province, Kohat and Karak districts, arresting three persons and registering FIRs against many others.

According to a statement issued here on Wednesday, an SNGPL taskforce carried out operation in different localities of Peshawar, including Sarband, Regi, Palosai, Tehkal, Peshtakhara,

Mathra, Spairsang, Dir Colony, Garhi Atta Mohammad and removed 213 illegal connections and 43 tampered meters.

Besides, the operation against illegal connections was also carried out in Kohat and Karak districts where the taskforce disconnected connection to 21 small factories, 14 commercial connections of power generation units and number of hotels and bakeries.

The authorities lodged FIRs against illegal consumers and arrested four persons.

It was stated that an application had been moved to the provincial government for permanent closure of factories involved in illegal use of gas.
