Hamza eases into quarters

PESHAWAR: International player Hamza comfortably qualified for the quarter-finals of the National Junior Squash Championship here at the PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Wednesday.

In his first-round match, Hamza did not face any resistance as he brushed aside Sheraz Akbar of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 11-4, 11-1, 11-4 to cruise into the last-eight stage.

In other first-round matches held on Wednesday, Ashab Irfan of Punjab overcame PAF’s Yaseen Khattak 11-4, 11-7, 11-7; KP’s Mutahir Ali beat Mohammad Talha, also of KP 11-3, 11-4, 11-3; Usman Butt of Punjab defeated his provincial mate Azlan Khawar 11-8, 11-6, 11-5; PAF’s Huzaifa Zahid defeated Shoaib Afzal of KP 11-6, 11-5, 11-6; Punjab’s Junaid Khan overwhelmed Hasnain Ali of the same province 11-7, 11-6, 13-11; Abdullah Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Punjab’s Moinuddin 11-9, 11-3, 11-2 and Mohammad Ammad of PAF got the better of Punjab’s Mubashir 11-4, 11-7, 11-8.
