PSA seeking security fee from PSF termed unfair

ISLAMABAD: Squash legend Qamar Zamar on Wednesday expressed concern over Professional Squash Association’s move of demanding $5,000 from the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) as a part of security fee for each of the three international tournaments to be hosted by Pakistan this year.

Talking to APP, Qamar said the PSF must take up the matter with the PSA as it was unfair.

The PSA, he underlined, was taking $5,000 as part of security fee for each of the three international tournaments to be held in Pakistan.

“They are not asking for this security fee from other countries which are also hosting PSA events. The tournament security fee is only being set for Pakistan and not for other countries which makes it totally unjust,” he said.

In 2018, the PSF successfully organised 16 PSA events (10 for men and six for women) featuring international players in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.

As a result, the PSA allotted three more tournaments to Pakistan to be held in Islamabad during coming April. The Chief of the Air Staff International Squash Tournament for men will be organised from April 1 to 5; PSF International Tournament for women will be held on the same dates.

Another international squash tournament for men will be staged in the Pakistan capital from April 6-10.
