Magsi again wins Cholistan jeep rally

BAHAWALPUR.: Maintaining his supremacy again, Mr Nadir Magsi on Sunday successfully defended his title by clinching the first position in the 14th Cholistan Jeep Rally held at Derawar Fort.

According to unofficial results of Category A, Mr Magsi in the pre-paid category covered a total distance of 466kms in four hours, 30 minutes and 35 seconds.

The overall second position was bagged by Zain Mehmood, who participated in the desert jeep rally, by covering the distance in four hours, 39 minutes and 26 seconds.

The third overall position went to Sahibzada Sultan Muhammad Ali, who had been clinching the second position in the rally during the previous years. This time he covered the distance in four hours, 42 minutes and 55 seconds.

In the Category B, Owais Khakwani was adjudged first with four hours, 53 minutes and 36 seconds, while Mr Asad was declared second with five hours, 11 minutes and 17 seconds.

Mr Zafar qualified for the third position in this category with five hours, 12 minutes and 14 seconds.

In the Category C, Syed Zaheer was declared first for covering the distance in five hours, 16 minutes and 37 seconds, while Gohar Sangi bagged second position with five hours, 23 minutes and 41 seconds.

Dr Noorullah captured the third position with five hours, 45 minutes and 12 seconds. According to an official hand-out, in the final round (second phase) 33 drivers participated.

The round was inaugurated by Punjab tourism minister Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz, who along with German Ambassador to Pakistan Mr Martin Cobler and Commissioner Nayyar Iqbal witnessed a cultural show held at the venue on Saturday night.

The position holders were awarded prizes.
