Lucrative business

EDUCATION in Pakistan has emerged as a lucrative business. Private education has become so expensive. Should one feed children or we should one pay for their education?

Government-run education institutions have become stables and sheds for cattle for feudal lords in villages in Sindh, while the so-called ‘elite’ education institutes in major cities are having a roaring business.

These private institutes demand exorbitant amount as admission fee, monthly tuition fee, transport fee, uniform, books, stationary, etc.

Developed countries offer free education to every child. They even offer foreigners to study without a tuition fee. But in Pakistan, we have to pay a huge amount of money for education, although the quality is poor.

The authorities concerned and the Sindh education department should take strong steps to revive government schools and reform education sector.
