Engineers’ woes

BECOMING an engineer is a dream of many middle-class boys like me. But only a few achieve this milestone.

Let me share an example of mistreatment to engineers. I had completed my graduation in 2017 and was awarded the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) supervisory certificate in September 2018, which will expire in June this year.

A supervisory licence is supposed to be a chance for young engineers to get field work experience in any company. But what is offered is Rs25,000 to Rs30,000 for the certificate. There are no jobs. The price for our 16 years of struggle is mere Rs30,000.

The prime minister and PEC should take steps for a better future of engineers.
