WSSP launches awareness, cleanliness drive

PESHAWAR: Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) on Tuesday launched a mass awareness and cleanliness campaign throughout the 43 union councils of the provincial capital. The awareness campaign was launched during a ceremony held at the Chowk Yadgar.

People from different walks of life, including traders, students, teachers, parents and representatives of the district government participated in the ceremony.

Besides, WSSP chief executive officer Engr Khanzeb Khan, Board of Governor’s chairman Tahir Azeem, general manager operations Engr Ali Khan and zonal manager Tariq Aziz were also in attendance.

Banners and posters were displayed on roads and in streets throughout the city inscribed with slogans regarding proper disposal of waste, water conservation and timely payment of municipal services bills.

Besides, pamphlets were distributed among the students, traders, rickshaw drivers and passersby.

Students presented tableaus regarding hygiene, sanitation and water conservation.

Assistant manager database Jehangir Khan gave demonstration on how to install and use mobile applications designed by management information system of WSSP, and also installed ‘SafaPekhawar’ (clean Peshawar) mobile app on mobile phones of the participants. People were asked to register their complaints on 24/7 active complaints cell 1334 regarding water and sanitation problems and were assured that their complaints would be addressed within 24 hours.

CEO Khanzeb Khan spoke about the importance of sanitation, hygiene and water conservation.
