52 persons electrocuted in last six months

ISLAMABAD: As many as 52 people were electrocuted due to high voltage wires during the PTI’s tenure, a document tabled in the National Assembly says.

MNA Syed Agha Rafiullah had asked how many people had died due to an electric current from high voltage wires across the current during the present government.

However, question hour was not held due to a debate on the Sahiwal incident.

According to a written reply from Minister for Power Division Omar Ayub Khan, 11 people including four employees and seven members of the general public, died in the limits of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company.

Three employees and two members of the general public died in the limits of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company, three members of the general public in the limits of the Gujranwala Electric Power Company and one employee and two members of the general public have died in the limits of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company.

Two employees and three members of the general public died in the limits of the Lahore Electric Supply Company, eight persons including six employees were electrocuted in the limits of the Multan Electric Power Company, 14 people including eight employees died in the limits of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company and three including two employees died in the limits of the Sukkur Electric Power Company.

No one has died of electrocution in the limits of the Quetta Electricity Supply Company and Tribal Electric Supply Company.
