LAKKI MARWAT: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl central leader Akram Khan Durrani has said that lawmakers of his party along with members of other religious parties will make all-out efforts for protection of Islamic laws and foil all conspiracies of the government for amendments in this regard.

He was speaking at a condolence reference arranged for party’s former MNA late Maulana Amanullah Khan in Naurang town on Sunday. Other speakers included Senator Maulana Attaur Rehman, MNAs Maulana Mohammad Anwar and Mufti Abdul Shakoor and MPAs Munawar Khan and Anwar Hayat.

Mr Durrani said that the government would not succeed in its efforts to harm social values and make legislation against the injunctions of Islam until JUI-F had its representation in parliament. He said that five-month performance had exposed the tall claims of rulers and their incompetency to run the affairs of government.

“The nation is facing consequences of the wrong policies of government,” he said and added that the government had failed to control inflation and improve governance. Referring to the Sahiwal incident, he said that innocent people were being killed at the hands of police in Madina-like welfare state of Imran Khan.

The former chief minister paid rich tribute to late Maulana Amanullah for his religious, political and educational services. He also said that his party would organise a march against wrong policies of the government in DI Khan on Jan 27.

SHIFTING OF POLICE POST: Elders of Kot Kashmir union council have asked the local police authorities to shift the police post to Kot Kashmir Bridge from the village as a suitable site has already been selected for it.

The demand was made at an open kutchery convened by Naurang circle DSP Shafiqur Rehman Khattak on Sunday. They said that presence of police along the bridge and in surrounding areas was essential to maintain peace and stop infiltration of anti-social elements into the district.

The area people also demanded a police crackdown on drug traffickers and proclaimed offenders in the area.

On this occasion, the DSP asked the in-charge officer of Serai Gambila police station to hold meeting with landowners to complete essential formalities so that the police post could be shifted to the bridge area.
