Shangla village lacks school, basic health unit

SHANGLA: Elders of Shaw Shang village in Bisham tehsil have demanded of the government to ensure basic facilities in the area, particularly a school and health centre.

The local elders told reporters here the other day that both the local bodies members and the MPAs had ignored their area.

“We have held meetings with the local government members on these issues, but to no avail,” Mujarab Khan said, adding the area lacked boys and girls schools.

Umar Khitab, another elder, said they had to take their patients to hospitals in Bisham city which is about 10kms away as there was no health facility in the village.

“Our village has been ignored by political leaders. Most of the locals work as labourers in the different cities,” he said.

The elders demanded of the district administration and the provincial government to establish a school and a basic health unit in the area.

HOUSE GUTTED: A house was gutted in Peshlor area of Martung tehsil here the other day, but no human loss was reported.

SHO Syed Mehmood told Dawn that the fire was erupted in a house owned by Shahi Deen. He said about Rs700,000 worth goods and jewellery were destroyed, adding the police and locals rescued the family members from the blaze.

The SHO said the rescue operation took time as the house was located in a hilly area where no fire tender was available.

LAID TO REST: A coalminer was laid to rest at his ancestral Dehrai village here the other day.

The locals said Sarzamin was working in a mine in Dara Adamkhel when a part of it collapsed, burying him alive.
