High-achieving students awarded

ISLAMABAD: High-achieving Pakistani students were awarded at the Academic Awards Ceremony on Wednesday.

The ceremony was organised by the British Council and the United Kingdom’s largest awarding organisation, Pearson, for international GCSE and A Level students. The awarded students achieved outstanding results in these examinations, including highest in the world, in Asia and in the country.

More than 180 students received Edexcel awards in a number of categories, including Top in the World, Top in Asia, Top in Pakistan, High Achievement A* and A and Top-Performing Students. The organisers also recognised the efforts of the teachers behind the students’ success.

“Pearson focused on academic excellence, surging desire for knowledge, attitudinal change including tolerance and compassion, developing a sense of purpose and high achievement with the vision for tomorrow,” James Hampson, acting British Council Pakistan country director said.

Pearson Vice President General Qualifications Derek Richardson praised the efforts of the students and teachers for academic excellence. He said the UK government would ensure to create opportunities for Pakistani students to introduce foreign qualifications.
