Two killed in separate incidents
ISLAMABAD: A woman was murdered at her home in Pakistan Town on Wednesday, police said.
The deceased was allegedly shot and killed by a man with whom she had been sharing a flat for a couple of months, police said, adding that the couple had claimed to be married but this has not yet been confirmed.
Police said the incident came to light when the victim was brought to the hospital with bullet injuries by a man who later disappeared. The victim died in the hospital.
Police then visited the victim’s residence, where they found a man with a pistol who was taken into custody.
The owner of the flat was also approached, who told the police the couple claimed to be married after objections were raised over them living in the flat together.
The apprehended man told police that his friend was living with the victim, and had called and told him he had shot the victim and asked him to dispose of the gun that was still at the flat.
The police, with the help of the suspect’s friend, apprehended him and took him into custody, they said.
Police said the suspect told them the couple had a fight during which he shot the victim. They said the reason behind the fight has not been established.
The victim was in her early 20s and had been working in the capital since 2015.
Lohi Bher Station House Officer Sub-Inspector Noorul Islam, when contacted, said the police have arrested the alleged killer and recovered money from his possession.
He refused to share further details about the murder.
Separately, a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Bhara Kahu.
Police said the victim was identified as Mohammad Zaman, and was waiting at a bus stop when he was hit by a speeding wagon. Zaman received multiple injuries in the accident.
The driver of the vehicle fled, leaving the victim on the road. The victim was later brought to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
