Shopkeeper killed in explosion

DERA GHAZI KHAN: A shopkeeper was killed and another person was injured in an explosion in a rural market of Jhandi in Rujhan tehsil of Rajanpur district on Wednesday.

Sources told Dawn that a motorcycle exploded as it was parked near the shop that was completely destroyed. Shopkeeper Shah Muhammad died on the spot, while passerby Shaukat sustained injuries and was rushed to the Rujhan Mazari THQ Hospital.

Rujhan Mazari Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rana Jan Muhammad told Dawn that the explosion took place in Jhandi, adding that a shopkeeper died and a passerby was injured. The injured was rushed to the THQ hospital.

The DSP said the amount of explosive material used and the kind of explosion were being assessed by the bomb disposal squad.

SNOWFALL: The high peak of Yak Bai in Sulaiman range in Tuman Leghari tribal area received snowfall on Wednesday.

Yak Bai is higher than Fort Munro and cannot be accessed by tourists. During the British Raj, the rulers built a lawn tennis court and planted trees on the peak.
