Sindh University launches education expo

HYDERABAD: The University of Sindh (SU) has become an epicentre of literary, cultural, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that significantly contribute towards holistic development of youth, enabling them to compete at the national and international levels.

This was stated by SU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Mohammad Burfat at a two-day ‘Grand Educational Expo 2019’ launched on Wednesday at varsity’s Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium, jointly organised by student societies of the University of Sindh, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology and Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences.

He said that in addition to its essential obligation of imparting academic knowledge, elevating the SU to international stature was his passionate dream.

“QS Asia has ranked our university in 400-450 category. This distinction has come to the SU for the first time in history. We have also become an ISO-certified campus.

In addition, the SU has won the tenth top slot out of 115 public and private sector universities in Pakistan in winning projects under National Research Programme for Universities (NRPU) scheme of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC),” he said.

The two-day event is featuring lecture sessions, workshops, debates, food festival, panel discussion, plays and a range of other folk and cultural events.

Those present at the opening ceremony included IBA director Prof Dr Abdul Sattar Shah, Grand Educational Expo director general Arshad Khaskheli, organisers of educational societies of three universities Aftab Memon, Ishtiaque Azam and others.
