LAKKI MARWAT: The local government representatives have asked the provincial government to spend major chunk of funds on beautification of Lakki city.

PTI district councillor Shafqatullah Khan and former councillor Haji Mohammad Iqbal Khan Khoidadkhel said that the beautification project would help to enlist Lakki Marwat in the developed districts of the province.

They said that parks and greenbelts would be established and streets would be paved in the city under the beautification project. They said that besides installation of streetlights, the residents of Lakki would also see improvement in drainage and sewerage system.

“Under the beautification project, urban roads and footpaths will be constructed in the city,” they said.

JI: Jamaat-i-Islami tribal subdivisions chief Zahidullah Turabi has asked the government to abolish the tradition of distributing uplift schemes among different clans and sub-tribes.

Talking to journalists, he asked the government to implement the Annual Developmental Programme on merit and basis of needs. He said that government should extend the benefits of merger of tribal areas with province to common people.

The JI leader also demanded of the government to stop intervention of lawmakers and elders in ADP of tribal subdivisions.

MEDICINE PRICES: The local leaders of Pakistan People’s Party have rejected 15 per cent increase in the prices of lifesaving drugs, saying the PTI government has failed to provide any relief to people.

Talking to local journalists here on Sunday, PPP former tehsil president Din Mohammad and Ihsanullah said that increase in prices of medicines was unacceptable as it would deprive poor people of availing healthcare and treatment facilities.

“The prices of medicines were already high,” they said. They said that medicines were essential commodity and increase in prices of lifesaving drugs would add to the miseries of people.

The PPP leaders said that besides increasing prices of electricity, gas and other utilities during the last five months, the present government was all set to drop the bomb of mini-budget on citizens in the coming days.

They said that the rulers wasted five months to criticise the members of opposition parties instead of taking measures for providing any relief to people.
