ISLAMABAD: North of the country is expected to receive above normal rainfall this month but it will be below normal in many areas of Sindh and Balochistan.

The Met Office said that overall rainfall in the country is likely to be normal, while northern parts of the country including upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir might get slightly above normal rainfall and snowfall.

Southern Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan are expected to receive slightly below normal rainfall during the month.

Due to low temperature, foggy conditions are, however, expected in the plains of central and lower Punjab, Peshawar and Hazara Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Currently a westerly wave is passing over upper parts of the country and may persist in the region till Sunday morning as a result rain-thunderstorm with snow over the hills is expected at scattered places in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Lahore divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Saturday (today).

Rainfall will be at isolated places in Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Bannu, Sargodha, Sahiwal and Gujranwala divisions.

The Motorway Police has warned drivers of dense fog at Multan- Bahawalpur -Rahim Yar Khan sections, whereas shallow to moderate fog will be witnessed from Kharian to Lahore and Lahore to Multan.
