Three brothers killed in roof collapse

PESHAWAR: Three minor brothers were killed and their parents injured when roof of a house collapsed here in Din Bahar Colony early on Thursday, rescue workers said.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi said that they were alerted about the roof collapse incident in Din Bahar Colony at around 2:30am. He said that a rescue team was soon sent to the area, which pulled out five injured from the debris and rushed them to a hospital.

He said that three minor brothers identified as Naseeb, 10, Naseer, 7, and Hidayat, 3, died of wounds at the hospital, while their parents were being treated at Lady Reading Hospital.

An official of Faqirabad police station told this scribe that the incident occurred due to dilapidated condition of the house.

Separately, Rescue 1122 pulled out dead body of a minor who had drowned in Syphon Canal a day earlier.

A statement issued here said that a minor identified as Wajid had drowned in the canal on Wednesday evening and the rescuers retrieved his body after 16 hours of search.
