144 schools in Nasirabad made functional again

DERA MURAD JAMALI: In Nasirabad division, 144 schools which remained closed for a long time, have been made functional and the education department has deducted around Rs10 million from the salary of absent schoolteachers in four districts of the division.

This was stated by Nasirabad Division Commissioner Usman Ali Khan here. He said that strict measures had been taken against the schoolteachers who had the habit of remaining absent from duty.

“We have reopened 144 schools over the last four months which had been closed for a long time,” Mr Khan said, adding that presence of 91 habitually absent teachers had been ensured in the schools and departmental action had been recommended against 154 schoolteachers.

“The situation is improving rapidly in educational institutes after deduction of salary from those school teachers who had the habit of remaining absent from schools of the Nasirabad division,” he said, adding that steps had also been taken to improve health facilities in all four districts of Nasirabad.

He said that because of tough measures taken to ensure presence of doctors and para-medical staff in all basic health units and hospitals of the Nasirabad division, health services had witnessed a marked improvement and now doctors and para-medical staff were providing 24 hours emergency services to patients in all district and tehsil hospitals.

He said that seven Basic Health Units were also providing 24-hour medical facilities to the people.

“Six ambulances have also been provided to BHUs and OPDs opened in most hospitals,” Mr Khan said.
