CPEC & Balochistan

THIS refers your editorial ‘CPEC and Balochistan’ (Dec 12). The concerns emanating from the provincial government of Balochistan over the dismal share of the province in development projects are plausible. Balochistan has been ignored since the beginning of the CPEC. Despite the last five or so years the progress on the main projects of the province has witnessed no progress. Most of the projects are present on papers only. They include Quetta Mass Transit and Pat feeder to Quetta water supply. The so-called western route has been left behind, as compared to the rest of the projects under the CPEC umbrella.

As the forthcoming joint cooperation committee is around the corner, scheduled to be held in Beijing from Dec 20, it is time provincial authorities took their grievances to Islamabad to redeem the miserable situation of the province by demanding actual resources and due share allocation for the province.

I would like to draw the attention of the federal government and Prime Minister Imran Khan to the grievances of the province and implement sustainable policies for the better future of Balochistan.
