CM orders shifting of bus stands to new terminal

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed the officials concerned to prepare a feasibility report of shifting bus stands to the new bus terminal at Chamkani.

He issued the directives while presiding over a meeting held to discuss the shifting of different bus stands to the new general bus stand, according to a statement issued here.

Provincial minister for local government Shahram Khan Tarakai, administrative secretaries, DG Peshawar Development Authority and relevant officials were in attendance.

The participants discussed the worsening state of affairs of the existing bus terminals.

CM Mahmood ordered immediate shifting of all bus stands to the main terminal in order to focus on the second phase of beautification of Peshawar that included enhancing greenbelts, ensuring cleanliness and facilitating the people.

The CM directed the local government, transport departments and PDA to plan and construct a commercial tower on the existing bus terminal, adding that all legal and codal formalities should be taken care of in that regard. He said more than 80,000 commuters used the existing bus stands and the shifting of these to the new bus terminal would facilitate the commuters to use the Bus Rapid Transit and other associated facilities being created in the bus terminal.
