Girl students block road in Buner

BUNER: The BS students of the government girls degree college, Daggar, on Saturday came onto the roads to demand to be allowed to sit in the examination of second semester starting from Monday.

They blocked the main road and disrupted traffic between Buner and Swat districts.

The protesting students said the University of Swat was not allowing them to take the examination of the second semester of BS course on the plea that they had failed in some papers in the first semester.

They said they had studied for the whole year and had also paid semester fee to the college.

The students argued that the college administration had denied them their right to clear all their failed papers of the first semester before the examination of the second semester.

They alleged that the college head had not informed them about the letters sent from the University of Swat detailing about the rules and regulations of the varsity.

They said they had raised the issue with the local MNA, MPAs and deputy commissioner, but to no avail.

District naib nazim Yousaf Ali Khan visited the protesting students and assured them that the issue would be resolved by Monday. Later, the students opened the road and dispersed peacefully.
