Siraj criticises PTI for inflation, rupee devaluation

TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq said on Wednesday that the people had voted for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf to fulfil its ‘Naya Pakistan’ pledge, but its government gifted them with sky-rocketing prices, inflation, joblessness and rupee devaluation.

He was addressing the area elders during a conciliatory jirga held at the hujra of late Malik Mohammad Zarin at Maskini Darra here. The jirga resolved a feud of land ownership between the people of Kakas and Sheeno Banda villages. It was also addressed by JI Lower Dir chief Izazul Mulk, Munda tehsil nazim Humayun Khan and others.

The JI chief claimed that a bill for permitting liquor was being tabled in the parliament, which would be strongly opposed by his party. He said that the government had failed on all fronts and it was not capable to manage financial crisis in the country.

Lauds role of jirga system in dispute resolution

Senator Haq said that his party wanted to bring real change in the country by imposing Sharia law through democratic means. Appreciating the role of jirga system in Pakhtun culture, he said that it was far better than the existing judicial system in the country, as under jirga system cases were decided in days and weeks.

The jirga members, including Malik Mir Aslam, Mohammad Roz and others, thanked the rival parties for cooperating with them and shunning their differences.

COUPLE KILLED: A couple was killed allegedly for ‘honour’ in Dinjarai village of Samar Bagh here the other day.

Meanwhile, Lower Dir deputy commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai said that the administration was committed to establishing rule of law.

Talking to mediapersons at his office, the DC said that measures were being taken to complete all the development projects in the district. He said that construction of Chakdara bypass road was need of the hour as traffic on Peshawar-Chitral road always remained jammed in Chakdara.
