KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers, Sindh on Tuesday claimed to have recovered a huge cache of arms from a house in Azizabad on a lead provided by two held suspects allegedly belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London.

A spokesman for the paramilitary force said that the two suspects — Mustaqeem and Muqeem — were arrested from North Karachi and interrogated for their alleged involvement in criminal activities.

He said they gave information about the arms and ammunition concealed in the walls of a house in Azizabad in Federal B Area’s Block 8.

He said that the Rangers recovered 195 rifle grenades, 98 40mm grenades, 90 Awan bombs, 11 RPGs, seven rockets, 170 detonators, two MP-5 rifles, six machine guns, five light machine guns, two G-3 rifles, six 7mm rifles, etc.

Meanwhile, in another major arrest, the city police arrested the leader of a “rickshaw gang” that targeted over 200 women.

He was arrested in an injured condition along with an accomplice after an encounter with the Ferozeabad police, SSP East Azfar Mahesar told a press conference.

He said the police had also recovered cash, dozens of women’s handbags and jewellery.

The ringleader said for over four years his four-member gang had been targeting women.
