Banquet hall?

THIS refers to the letter ‘A school’ (Dec 2). The writer has mentioned that there was a government primary school in Shikarpur that is now being used as a banquet hall and that instead of students and teachers there were cauldrons, plates and guests in the school’s premises.

In our days, there used to be an annual inspection of all the government schools for which a lot of preparations used to be made. The inspection day used to be a special occasion for its staff and students both.

The classrooms used to be immaculately clean, teachers on their toes, the trees trimmed, the records up to date and students would move in a line. Where have all these things gone now?

Now, what to speak of this annual drill, the schools have vanished and taken over by the mafia to use them as banquet halls and rearing grounds for its animals.

This is a fit case for taking strict disciplinary action against the officials of the education department concerned under whose ‘supervision’, the school mentioned above has been converted into a banquet hall.
