Low gas pressure to ease next month: SNGPL

PESHAWAR: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, general manager Arbab Saqib has said the issue of low pressure will end to a great extent after the commissioning of new transmission lines by the end of the current month or early next month.

Mr Saqib told reporters here on Monday that work on several development projects was in progress to overcome the growing gas demands.

He said various projects couldn’t be undertaken in the province due to the delay in the issuance of NOC by the communication and works department, Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority and Pakistan Railways.

The official said the overall pressure of gas supplied to Peshawar was normal and only parts of the city faced low gas pressure after 10pm as the SNGPL carried out maintenance work there for the Bus Rapid Transit project.

“The system is operated at slightly low pressure to avoid any mishap late at night due to the heavy machinery used for BRT project,” he said.

Mr Saqib said the cold spell was another factor to increase gas demand but the system had already been upgraded and thus, addressing the pressure issue.

He said the MOL company had also reduced production due to some technical issues and therefore, the Charsadda faced low pressure. The official said the problem would be resolved in few days.

“We have given a ring feed to the entire cantonment area in the BRT project along the BRT route via Nothia. We have brought seven kilometers and six inches additional pipeline to the cantonment area from the main GT Road that ends in Shama Chowk,” he said.

The official added that the additional 12 inches and 10 inches pipeline was laid along the BRT route, while 33km transmission line from Dara Adamkhel to Hayatabad Township would be commissioned next month.
