Kidnapped man found ‘tortured to death’

SHIKARPUR: The body of a 35-year-old man was found buried at a desolate place in Mian Saheb town on Monday, five days after he was allegedly kidnapped by unknown armed men.

A pack of stray dogs barking and digging earth at the place drew attention of some villagers, who went there and found the body partially unearthed by the animals.

They recognised the man, Mohammed Hanif Brohi, and took the body to Nek Mohammad Brohi village, situated nearby.

The bereaved family and villagers said the body bore marks of intense torture, besides dog bites. They along with the victim’s other relatives took the body to the Shikarpur-Jacobabad section of the National Highway near Humayun town and held a demonstration against the area police.

Vehicular traffic on the highway remained suspended for more than two hours due to the protest.

It was stated that Hanif Brohi was on his way to his farmland five days ago when armed men kidnapped him at gunpoint.

The Mian Saheb police said a motive behind the kidnapping and murder was unclear as there was no clue to the culprits as yet.

They said an investigation was under way.
