Boy held for killing ‘friend’

SUKKUR: A boy, Ikram Katpar, was arrested on Monday after he confessed to killing his “friend”, Ali Raza Katpar, 10, in a fit of anger over a petty matter between them.

Ali Raza had gone missing on Saturday evening and during a search his body was found dumped in an abandoned house in Kalri village near Kandhra town on Sunday. The body bore a cut on the neck inflicted with a sharp object and a wound on his head. Ikram was not nominated in the FIR lodged at the Kandhra police station by Raza’s father, who later came to know that his son was killed by his [the victim’s] young friend.

Police raided several houses during the investigation of the case and noted with suspicion that Ikram and all his family members had silently moved out of their house.

The pursuit led them to an area near Nara within Kandhra town where the family was hiding. Ikram was arrested and the crime weapon was seized from him.

He told the police that he and Raza used to rear and sell pigeons. He said he had bought pigeons worth Rs1,000 from Raza some two months ago but failed to make the payment upon which Raza took up the matter with his [Ikram’s] elder brother. He said he, in a fit of anger, avenged Raza’s complaint by killing him.
