CJP seeks report from IGP in double murder case

LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday took suo motu notice of the murder of a woman and her daughter in Jahanian and sought its report from Punjab Inspector General of Police Amjad Javed Saleemi within three days.

The CJP had taken notice on a footage that went viral on social media showing that two women were murdered by their opponents when they (mother and daughter) were returning after attending court proceedings.

Taking notice of the issue, the CJP has directed the IGP to submit a report within three days.

Meanwhile, the IGP constituted a team led by Khanewal District Police Officer Rana Muhammad Masoom to arrest the suspects involved in double murder outside court.

Taj Begum and her daughter Asma went to the sessions court to record their statements when two motorcyclists (their opponents) opened fire on them. Both the women suffered critical wounds and died on way to hospital.

The IGP said they had constituted teams to arrest the suspects.
