NAB fails to prove corruption against Shahbaz: Marriyum

LAHORE: PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Wednesday that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) could not prove any corruption against Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif in about two months, therefore, it was applying conventional charge of ‘income beyond means’ against him.

Talking to reporters, the former information minister said since no corruption against the PML-N president had been established in Ashiana, Saaf Paani company and Ramzan Sugar Mills, the NAB was now taking help from the traditional allegation of income beyond means.

“Shahbaz’s arrest is illegal as nothing has been proved against him in any charge,” she declared.

“Shahbaz has been arrested by design so that no one can speak about the poor performance of the selected prime minister in the first 100 days,” she said, adding Prime Minister Imran Khan was using the NAB for political victimisation.

Khan had a bias against Shahbaz and he was settling an old score with him, she alleged.

Ms Aurangzeb said the corruption by Aleema Khan (the sister of Imran Khan) had been detected but action was being taken against Shahbaz. She said Shahbaz should be provided facilities in the NAB custody suggested by the medical board. She also demanded that all suspects in the NAB custody should be examined by the medical board.

Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz said the agreement between the Latif Sons and the Punjab Land Development Company would turn out to be a ‘turning point’ in the Shahbaz case.
