Two FIA zones in Punjab

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has bifurcated Punjab into two zones primarily to improve its working and facilitate complainants.

The FIA says the decision to this effect has been taken on the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The FIA headquarters on Monday issued a notification bifurcating Punjab into ‘Zonal Director Punjab-I and Zonal Director Punjab-II.’

The Punjab-I comprises Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Kasur while Punjab-II comprises Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad and Multan circles. Punjab-I is headed by Waqar Abbasi and Punjab-II by Muhammad Tariq Chohan.

FIA Punjab spokesman Altaf Gohar Wattoo told Dawn that this step would not only improve the agency working but also redress the grievances of the complainants.
