Artworks displayed at Alhamra

LAHORE: The Alhamra National Exhibition featuring some 250 artworks by 136 artists from across Pakistan opened at Alhamra Art Gallery, The Mall, on Monday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Minister for Culture Fayazul Hassan Chohan flanked by Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Ather Ali Khan.

A well-attended event, the exhibition presented a panorama of art and multiplicity in artworks. The show featured works both by veteran and senior artists, also young people from visual art put their works on display.

The works by veteran artists such as Mian Ejazul Hassan and Dr Ajaz Anwar added grace to the exhibition. Many prominent artists, including Shahid Jalal, Huma Mulji, Ali Kazim, Rahat Naveed Masood, Dr Mussarat Hassan, Mehboob Ali, Ghulam Mustafa, Jamil Baloch, Aisha Jatoi, Shahnawaz Zaidi and Amna Pataudi, had displayed their works.

Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Ather Ali Khan said the exhibition provided a platform to see the works of both seasoned and emerging artists. The council, he said, would continue to support visual arts by holding such events.

The exhibition was a combination of multiple views having strong statements on socio-political scene of the country through artworks. The painting had diversity that thrives art and life.

A press release issued by the council had a wrong conclusion date of the exhibition printed on it, saying the event would conclude on Nov 3, 2018. Many pointed it out at the exhibition; however the event would conclude on Dec 3.
