Three of a family among eight killed in Mansehra incidents

MANSEHRA: Eight people were killed in two separate incidents here.

Five people died of critical injuries after a truck and a passenger wagon plunged into a ravine after a head-on collision on the Karakoram Highway in Kotli Bala area on Saturday.

Six people with critical injuries were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Shinkiari.

Among the deceased were Sherzada, Mohammad Javed, Gul Mohammad, Mohammad Pervez and an unidentified person.

The accident occurred after the driver lost the truck’s control on the way to Gilgit-Baltistan from Rawalpindi and rammed it into an upcoming wagon.

In another incident, a man killed three members of a family and injured three more by firing gunshots on their vehicle in Haran area of Upper Kohistan district on Friday night.

The family of Mohammad Ramzan came under attack as it was travelling from Harab area to Kohistan.

The locals shifted the family members to a nearby hospital, where the doctors pronounced Ramzan, Rehmat Ghani and Usman dead and referred Wakil Ahmad, Nematullah and Farooq to the Dasu civil hospital due to critical condition.

The police began raids to arrest suspected killer Katar after registering a case of the firing incident.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan People’s Party dissolved its tehsil body of Balakot after its divisional president, Ahmad Hussain Shah, quit the party to join the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.

“Members for the previous body of our party’s Balakot tehsil chapter were named by former divisional president and since he has left the party, it has been dissolved for the nomination of new body,” PPP district president Malik Farooq told a meeting on Saturday.

Mr Farooq said the party was seriously thinking about participation in by-election to be held on PK-30 after the disqualification of PML-N MPA Ziaur Rehman in a fake degree case.

“Our central leaders Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari are in contact with us following the current situation and will guide us on the by-elections to be held next month,” he said.
