Declamation contest held among school students

LAKKI MARWAT: The district boys scouts association organised a declamation contest at government high school No 2, Lakki city, on Monday in connection with Eid Miladun Nabi.

Deputy commissioner Mohammad Kabir Afridi had directed the education department to hold debate contests and functions on Eid Milad. Student debaters and boy scouts from different schools participated.

The students highlighted the life of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and called upon the Muslims to mould their lives according to teachings of the prophet.

Mohammad Uzair Marwat, a student of government primary school, Majeed Mammakhel, stood first in the contest. Mohammad Ismail of government high school, Dabak Mandrakhel, and Omer Abdullah of government higher secondary school No 3, Michenkhel, stood second and third, respectively. They were given trophies.

FAREWELL: The district government and local administration officials arranged separate farewell programmes in honour of outgoing deputy commissioner Mohammad Kabir Afridi at the district headquarters complex, Tajazai, on Monday.

Mr Afridi has been transferred from the district and his services have been placed at the disposal of the establishment department. The newly-posted deputy commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir also attended the events. District nazim Iqbal Hussain Advocate and naib nazim Haji Arab Khan paid tributes to the outgoing deputy commissioner for his services and said that the locals would always feel his absence.

KILLED: A man mistakenly shot and killed his brother in Bargai locality of Naurang town while hunting pigeons on Monday. Police said Shakirullah and his brothers, Noor Jamil Khan and Tariq Nawaz, had gone to the fields to hunt pigeons by shooting.

However, a shot fired from a rifle held by Tariq seriously injured his brother, Noor. He was taken to hospital but could not survive, the police said.
